Hurricane Katrina Relief FundThe Knights of Columbus have established a Hurricane Katrina relief fund. 100% of all donations will go directly to hurricane relief.

The Knights of Columbus Order has pledged a minimum of $2.5 million in financial assistance, and is challenging local Knights to contribute to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund in an amount equal to or greater than the Order's pledge. This is the Order's largest disaster relief effort in its history. The Order will match contributions in excess of $2.5 million made within 60 days of September 2. The Knights of Columbus have nearly 50,000 members in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Initial contributions of $10,000 each have already been made available to Knights of Columbus state councils in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. In addition, the Knights insurance program has announced it will suspend "lapses of policies and premium notices" in FEMA-designated disaster areas for at least 60 days. The Knights of Columbus have provided significant relief for other recent disasters. They provided more than $500,000 to victims of the Asian tsunami, and they donated $1 Million for the families of victims of the September 11, Thank you and God Bless. St Irene's Council
