Christmas Gifts for Prisoners

Each year St. Irene's has participated in the Concord Prison Holiday Gift Bag Project that provides simple gifts for prisoners at MCI Concord. Usually the gifts (consisting of basic needs such as stationery, stamps, warm socks, etc.) are sent in a decorated shoebox assembled by adults.

Each gift bag typically contains a bar of deodorant soap, toothpaste (5.8 oz. or larger), white envelopes #6 3/4 (6 1/2” x 3 5/8”), a pad of paper (6” x 9” or 5” x 8”, no wire), a pair of white crew socks (no tube socks, knee highs or “tennis” socks), a bottle (plastic) of shampoo (15 oz. max), a stick deodorant (no roll-ons, 2 oz. or larger), a pocket calendar (no wire; no wall calendars), and a holiday greeting card (Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, Merry Christmas, no religious cards), signed with first names only. Handmade cards are especially appreciated.
