The catechism is a document that summarizes the beliefs of Catholics.

For modern day Catholics, their initial introduction to the Catholic catechism was the 'Baltimore Catechism,' prepared in the mid-1880's.  The Second Vatican Council initiated an update resulting in the 'Catechism of the Catholic Church,' which was published in 1992 and updated in 1997.

The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church is available at the Vatican website.
